I am a Christian. I pray, I read the bible, albeit not as often as I should, but I do not go to church. Don’t worry, I am not going to preach and spit brimstone about how you all are going to Hell (you are). I am going to talk about WHY I do not go to church.
When I was just a young bastard, I would go every Wednesday and Sunday. I did not curse, and I would read the Bible whenever I could. Shit, I remember my cousin and me studying that book and reading it to each other all the time. We still do, sometimes.
One day, while playing with the other kids in my Sunday school class, the preacher’s son tried to trip me. He failed, but I told the youth teacher that was there what had happened. "Lying is a sin, 'Carman' " is what I was told. That motherfucker did not believe me! This is just one of the things that started my awakening.
Well, I told my mother and she said I did not have to go back if I did not want to. Fine by me, I thought. I still read my Bible, and still studied it with my cousin. Shortly thereafter I moved to Cow Country, Ohio, where I met the Christian Fundamentalist...
"What church do you go to, 'Carman'" was the question, and when I told them I did not go to church, they looked flabbergasted. How can someone NOT go to church? Don't you believe in Jesus? Everyone goes to church!
One of the kids, a girl, told me that it figured, since I listened to Metallica, a band that was just another tool of Satan's, and this even though they had never listened to one of their songs themselves. And I didn't hide my “affiliation with the devil”, because I had long, black hair. I told the cunt that A - Metallica sings about HP Lovecraft and Moses, B - Jesus had long hair, and C - Shut the fuck up.
People generally left me alone after that, although I would find those stupid ass tracks in my locker every now and then, telling me to repent.
I found I felt closer to God while in the woods, GOD’S country.
Anyway...
A few years later, my grandfather died, and so I ended up going to church once again with my grandmother, it was more for her than for me. But hey, I hadn’t been there in a while, and figured I should make an appearance.
What follows is an account:
Preacher: God has granted us with the good fortune of having a school in our church, and this is good, because God has not forgotten his flock. A Christian school for Christian children, away from the sex, drugs, and violence that plague society. Our school is inadequate, however, and needs a new gymnasium. God loves us, but can only do so much. Please turn your Bibles to...
After the sermon, the collection plate goes around, and people put money in it out of habit. I ask my grandmother why they do this, and she said the church gives it to the less fortunate. I ask her if she heard what the preacher man had just said about the gym they want, and inform her that THAT is where the money is really going. Screw the poor.
Jesus was in the motherfucking desert standing on a goddamn rock preaching to his followers. I doubt he would give a shit if a church has a fucking school or a gymnasium. But that is blasphemy, just ask the preacher - I did, and was told I am just confused and have to read my Bible more...
Matthew 10
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

I guess that proves that giving to the church is OK, because they give your money to God, himself to secure your spot in heaven.

I love how The Church has turned into a money machine, This just goes to show how greedy some so called Christians have become, a FAR cry from their humble beginnings in Judea.
So called Christians LOVE to flaunt their money. They look down on someone who goes into their church wearing jeans and a T shirt, because, as they will say, it shows disrespect to our lord... they must have forgotten that all Jesus wore was a fucking robe and sandals. These people find nothing wrong with that train of thought. I find it hypocritical. So what if someone is poor? Because they are poor, they cannot worship in the same temple as YOU?

I think Christians like to think they are Christians and that they read the Bible. But the truth is that most only follow the parts they want to follow, and I am not excluding myself in this reasoning.
This, I feel, is what has made hating on Christians such a popular trend. It disappeared for a while, but now it’s back with a vengeance. Just ask some poser metal head teenagers how they feel about Christians, and I will bet 90% of them will say Christians suck, but they cannot find any reason why really. Those that know a little more history, paid attention in school and DO have a reason for why X-ians suck, will probably say something about Charlemagne. I would just like to say that because of Uncle Charlie, MILLIONS of people have found Christ over the course of over 1000 years.
Christians for the most part put up with so much shit it is unbelievable.They are constantly teased, ridiculed and put down. Let’s not forget the hoopla that went around “The Passion of the Christ” when it was released. Non-Christians love to question the faith of Christians, and quote passages that fit their arguments. "LOVE THY NEIGHBOR" - They are assholes. "Judge NOT lest ye be judged" - I don’t judge, I give myopinion. "EYE FOR AN EYE, TOOTH FOR A TOOTH" - That’s right, so let’s hang the bastard...
Some people dedicate their lives to pointing out the hypocrisy of the Bible and of Christian thought. That’s OK… I choose not to argue with them as I find it a waste of breath, but the thought of violence does cross my mind. Nothing I say will change their opinions anyway. I respect most other religions, as long as they respect mine. I will not make fun of someone because they are Muslim, Jewish, or Miscellaneous.
Personally I find nothing wrong with:

The fact of the matter is, that God - and ONLY God - can judge me. And when I die, THEN I will face the charges. It is vain to think that because you found Jesus you are automatically going to heaven. No. Finding Jesus will HELP you finding the Kingdom of Heaven. Nothing more.
Your actions are still yours to live up to.
