As I am sure you have heard by now former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrel (real name Abbott) was shot and killed on stage while performing in Columbus with his new band Damageplan yesterday, Dec 8th at 10.18 PM.

A man walked up to the stage, just a minute into the first song, and shot Dimebag 5 - 6 times from point blank range, immediately killing him. Then the fuckhead turned his gun on the rest of the band and on the audience, firing at random, before being gunned down by a police officer. The result is five dead (counting the shooter) and more injured.

That is just horrible news.

God knows I didn't appreciate Pantera after "Vulgar Display Of Power", and neither do I think Damageplan was anything but another paper cup metal band riding on the nu metal band wagon, but that is all besides the point when you consider what an amazing talent that has forever left the world of music. Dimebag was a TRUE metal guitar player. The kind they just don't make anymore.

He had more metal in his pinkie than most of these candy ass nu metal pussies have between all of them. Dimebag set the standards for other guitarists to follow and has for many many years been sadly overlooked by people voting losers like Kirk Hammet "Best Metal Guitarist" in stupid polls...

Dimebag was the real fucking deal. The Ted Nugent of Metal if you will. No excuses, no silk gloves, no prisoners... Just all the way in-your-face guitarplaying to wake the dead.

Dimebag was one of the original Metal Rebels, and on behalf of the writers of the Dead Rebel Society I would like to extend our condolences to his family, and also to the whole metal community as a whole, for losing him much too early.

The first two Pantera albums, "Cowboys from Hell" (one of the best Thrash albums of all time in my opinion) and "Vulgar...", showcased a guitar player that combined the tightest of meaty thrash riffs with blistering speed and superb harmonies. Not many guitarplayers in metal can touch Dimebag even on their best day.

Too bad the little chicken shit gunman didn't survive the shooting. I would have loved for him to have to spend his last days sharing a cell with a 400 lb bad ass rapist sporting a big old Pantera Skull tattoo and a 10 inch monster schlong.

Fucking pisses me off that it's always the good ones too, you know?

Dimebag gets shot and fucking Lars Ulrich is still walking the earth? That just doesn't seem very fair now, does it...?
